  1. It's apparent that there's still one person on earth who
  2. doesn't know what WinSock is.  Hopefully someone has a
  3. FAQ or is willing to help.

  5. I imagine it has something to do with TCP/IP access. My
  6. PC can already access any Internet site with Telnet or
  7. FTP via a Unix system to which I have remote access.
  8. FTP'ed files are then DL'ed with Zmodem or some such
  9. protocol.

  11. It would be nice to have my PC on the Internet -- having
  12. FTP and TELNET available directly from Windows.  The Unix
  13. system to which I log in does support SLIP.  And most
  14. unfortunately, I can only get out on a 9600bps modem.

  16. Kind people have tried to help, but some of us are at the
  17. "idiot's guide" stage.

  19. What exactly do I need to buy/ftp to accomplish a Windows
  20. on Internet connection ?

  22. What throughput can I expect, when FTPing through a 9600bps
  23. modem?  Faster than Zmodem (~900cps) ?

  46. I would very much like to run the new march beta of MS TCP/32 but
  47. I cannot get WFW3.11 to recognize my second 3Com 3C509 in my
  48. EISA machine.  I have tried specifying slots, addresses, etc, but
  49. to no avail.  Has anyone had similar problems?  I suspect it may be
  50. the quirky PROTOCOL.INI writes that the install/setup does, but I 
  51. cannot tell what is and isn't correct.

  53. My windows network still runs fine, as everything binds and is
  54. hunky-dory.  I get the error "ELNK32$ adapter is not functioning...".

  56. Finally, is it possible to run the TCP/IP over NETBIOS from one adapter?
  57. (with 2 physical connections - one thick, one thin coax?)

  93. The program does not let me do this.  I am typing this very text in the Post 
  94. Article window and do not have any of the menu command available-- including 
  95. Edit/paste.

  97. I hope a newer version permits clipboard pastes in the post and follow windows.
